Scoring is a technique of cutting lines and designs into the concrete surface, which creates the look of large tile or marble and can also be used for purely artistic purposes. Every surface to be scored will have an 8- to 10-inch border, since score lines cannot meet the baseboards. The border acts as a stopping point and frames each room as a work of art. The cuts are between 1/16th and 1/8th of an inch deep and score lines can be 1/8th or a 1/4 inch wide. Most designs call for the 1/8-inch cut. The stain will appear just slightly lighter in scored lines.
As artists, we are open to any design or pattern and are not confined to straight lines. Our specialty is curvilinear designs and patterns that are scored freehand.

If you like M. C. Escher, let's talk! Here we can use math creatively — we love to create illusions in concrete.
